Julia Knop

Unique perspectives and an exceptional eye for details are distinguishing characteristics in the work of the portrait and reportage photographer Julia Knop.  Her sensitive view of people and relationships in different contexts, empathy, and the ability to assess situations quickly allow her to create visually-exciting pictures that are easily recognizable, meaningful, and one-of-a-kind. Her customers vary from well-known magazines such as Brand eins, Stern, Zeit Magazin, Süddeutsche Zeitung Magazin, Nido and Neon to agencies that are also looking for new perspectives in conventional contexts. Julia Knop loves experimental approaches. Long-term customers value and trust her as a partner and advisor in the creative process. The Hamburg photographer works on freelance projects while traveling. She portrays situations in day-to-day life in other countries as raw and sometimes even painfully-realistic. Yet her pictures possess a certain poetic strength and beauty.

Her projects have been exhibited in various galleries and museums such as the Photographers Gallery in London, the Fotomuseum Winterthur in Switzerland, or at the Photo Biennale in Daegu, South Korea. She has received various prizes and grants.

Julia Knop lives in Hamburg, Germany.
